Beaches Turks and Caicos

I just returned from Beaches Turks and Caicos. It was a fabulous trip. Everything went according to plan. At the airport we walked through Customs and Immigration quickly and immediately went outside to meet the Beaches people. Within seven minutes our van driver had us packed up and departing for the 15-minute ride to the hotel. We arrived and were booked in a Governor’s One Bedroom Suite. Our suite was on the first floor, which was fine with us. We did not have an Oceanview. Most of the suites on the Caribbean side do not have an Oceanview. Some second floor suites have them. They were at 100% capacity so we could not get one. The livingroom is spacious and had a daybed with a trundle. Both are just as comfy as regular beds as they use regular bed type mattresses. The Master bedroom had a Kingbed, large garden tub, separate shower, and separate toilet area. There is plenty of closet and drawer space. Maid service was very good and having a suite with a fridge full of soda and juice for the kids is great. There was also a basket with chips, pretzels, ovaltine cookies, and microwave popcorn. Very convenient.

The pools are wonderful. Arizonas’s is the quietest, Iguana has all the activities, the French is way in the back by the Waterpark, and the Italian is heated. I found the staff at the Arizona and Iguana pools by far the friendliest and happiest. The Italian pool staff is very grumpy. The waterpark was lots of fun for the kids. We all did the lazy river and tube slide. They have stuff for all ages. The body surf machine seems to be the most popular for the tween – teens. If you do not get a butler suite, get your chair before going to breakfast for the best spots.

Our kids were too old for the babysitting and Sesame Street Characters activities but everyone we spoke to seemed to love these features on property. The Characters are walking around during the day when they do not have a specific activity or scheduled photo shoot. Prebook your character breakfast with your Preferred Beaches Travel Agent. They were full a lot.

The beach here is fabulous. There were many palapas and chair covers which is really good for families. You can walk forever on this beach and it is ideal for watersports. We went kayaking, sailing, and watertriking off the beach. They have a wonderful boat that takes you snorkeling out to the reefs that is included. We also went on the Kitty-Kat cruise to Iguana island. It was a pay cruise but worth it. They take you snorkeling for about ½ hour then on to the island which is a huge beach with some pretty good size iguanas and lots of conch shells you can bring back. There are snacks and drinks on the cruise. They keep you entertained for about 3 hours.

Dinner is always a treat here. They have Bobby D’s for the kids with great steak sandwiches. Pizza and a Movie night, we went to Sapadillos, the adult restaurant, while the kids went to the Movie night. This was the best restaurant on property. The sushi restaurant was fab as well. Really enjoyed the two seafood restaurants, Barefoot and Schooners. Not crazy about Marios.

This is the best vacation a family could ask for.
