Sandals Regency, St Lucia

After clearing customs we went to the Sandals desk at the airport. Our bags were tagged and we were assigned a shuttle with three other couples and were on our way within 10 minutes. The drive took an hour and 15 minutes. It was pleasant enough as the scenery was beautiful. We arrived at Sandals Regency and were immediately wisked upstairs to the conference room for check in. There were about 12 couples checking in all at the same time. Check in was very efficient. One person came around with cold towels, another with drinks, and a third took your voucher and credit card. This was the most efficient check in I have ever experienced at Sandals. We then headed to our room. Our luggage arrived within 10 minutes of our arrival in our room.

We booked online with thetravelstoreusa.com. We were upgraded from an Oceanview Room to a Beachfront Room. The room had recently been renovated and looked great. The view of the beach and ocean was fabulous. Normally we like a balcony but this room did not have one. It was fine as we used the sitting area like a balcony because we were so close to the ocean. I love the sound of the waves crashing so we kept our sliders open a lot. They do have Beachfront Rooms with balconies but that was a category higher than we had. To my delight and surprise my tub was a Jacuzzi tub. I love a tubby at night. Also, there was a mini-fridge in the room with bottled water, soda and juice. This was wonderful. I like to have bottled water in the room. There is no charge for this by the way. Maid service was good. If you ask the maid to do your room early she will make sure it is done before noon. If you don’t ask sometimes it is not done until 330pm-4pm depending on how many check-out/ins they have.

It was unusually windy the week we were there so diving and snorkeling was canceled almost everyday. It was too bad as the diving is usually pretty good in St Lucia. We did manage to go sailing twice. It was a lot of fun. They also had a returning guest cocktail cruise to Marigot Bay. It was very nice. Remember to bring money as they stop in the marina and there are shops there. I got a great two foot long beaded gecko. We also went to Sandals Grande for the day. It is really beautiful there as well. The shuttle is free but depending on the traffic can take up to an hour to get there.

Dining was really good. We ate at La Toc, the French restaurant. Our favorite. , the Italian. Service here was fabulous. Arizonas which is now a buffet. They had the best Guacomole for both lunch and dinner. The Pier at the Halcyon. Service was slow. Plan on at least 1 ½ hours for dinner. The food was delicious. Barefoot by the Sea at the Grande. Loved the atmosphere food was good as well.

Now the fun part. While laying by the pool every other day they had the managers walking around handing out flavored water (grapefruit, pineapple, and lemon). Also there was the coolest thing. A floating drink dispenser. They had a bartender in the water with a bamboo raft handing out drinks to people around and in the pool. Talk about lazy, I never left my chair!

We golfed three times during our week stay. It is $5 for 9 holes and you tip the caddie. It was a great experience. Nivel was our caddie. He is the best caddie you can ever have. Please ask for him you will not be disappointed. We have golfed all over the world and had many caddies. He will give you a golf lesson every time you go out free. If you golf in the afternoon (230p-3p ish) there is usually only a few of you there and you can take your time. The course is not PGA but challenging enough.

All in all the vacation exceeded out expectations. I would definitely go back.
